Bishop Provenzano To Visit Grace Church For Rev. Jobson Memorial

The Right Reverend Lawrence C. Provenzano, Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Long Island will be making his first visit to Grace Church on Saturday, January 9th to participate in the Memorial Service for the Rev. Canon John X. Jobson, retired Rector of Grace Church who passed away in October.

Rev. Jobson served as Rector of Grace Church and Day School for 23 years from 1974 until 1997.  Born Feb. 26, 1935, in Newcastle, Australia, he was a son of the late Sydney Faulkner and  Rhoda Coline (leLevre) Jobson. He came to the United States to pursue graduate work in church history at the General Theological Seminary in New York City in 1967. Before completing his doctorate he was called to parish ministry in the Diocese of Long Island. He was also professor of church history at George Mercer Jr. School of Theology, the Diocesan school of theology at Garden City, N.Y. Canon Jobson enjoyed gardening and could often be found outdoors working in the yard and landscaping around his home.

The Memorial Service will begin at 10:00 am on Saturday, January 9th at Grace Church followed by a reception in the Parish Hall.  Members of the community are invited to attend.  A Memorial Fund has been established in Rev.
